Good Governance

My Position on Good Governance

Fighting for a More Transparent Democracy

The framers of the U.S. Constitution intended for our government officials to be accountable to the people they were elected to serve. But too often, Rep. Spanberger sees lawmakers who are beholden to special interests, corporate lobbyists, and transnational corporations.

Rep. Spanberger is focused on restoring trust in our system of government, eliminating conflicts of interest, and giving Virginians a stronger voice at the table.

She believes that Members of Congress should hold themselves to the highest standard of transparency, accountability, and ethical behavior when it comes to making decisions on behalf of the Americans they serve. That’s why — for several years — she has led the bipartisan effort to ban Members of Congress, as well as their spouses and dependent children, from buying, selling, or trading individual stocks.
