Spanberger on President Biden Signing National Security Package into Law: “This Moment Requires American Leadership, Not American Retreat”
WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger — a Member of the U.S. House Intelligence Committee — today released the following statement after a bipartisan majority of the U.S. Senate voted to pass a critical national security package, and President Biden signed it into law.
“I want to thank my colleagues in the U.S. Senate who recognized that this moment requires American leadership — not American retreat. Now that this bipartisan package has been signed into law, America will provide urgently needed firepower to our allies in Ukraine as they wage their fight for freedom against Putin’s army. Additionally, this package will deliver security assistance to Taiwan, defensive support to Israel, and vital humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza and the West Bank. In the face of global uncertainty and chaos, we will set an example.
“Rather than sit on the sidelines, the United States of America has decided to demonstrate its power and its resolve. In the coming days, I will be pressing for this aid to get out the door as soon as humanly possible.”
