Spanberger Visits Amelia County for Sixth County-Wide Town Hall
Spanberger Held Her Sixth Town Hall Since Taking Office At Amelia County High School, Answered Central Virginians’ Questions On Tariffs, Rural Broadband Access, And 5G Technology
WASHINGTON — On Friday, U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger hosted her sixth county-wide town hall in Virginia’s Seventh District. After a brief update on her work in Washington, Spanberger answered questions and listened directly to the concerns of Amelia County residents.
During the open event at Amelia County High School, Spanberger updated constituents on her recent legislative work in Washington – including cosponsoring and passing a bipartisan bill to help more Americans save for a secure retirement, leading the introduction of the Secure 5G and Beyond Act to protect Americans’ privacy & future telecommunications systems, helping pass the CREATES Act to make it easier for Central Virginians to access lower-cost generic prescription drugs, chairing her first Conservation & Forestry Subcommittee hearing on the implementation of 2018 Farm Bill conservation programs, being appointed to the House Task Force on Rural Broadband, and voting to pass the Equality Act to ensure equal treatment under the law for LGBTQ Americans.
“Our town halls, constituent coffees, and other public events across Central Virginia are incredibly valuable to me as I work on the Seventh District’s priorities in Washington. Listening to the concerns, feedback, and questions of my constituents helps guide our path forward on important issues like rural development, national security, and affordable prescription drug access,” said Spanberger. “I will continue listening to as many people as possible in Amelia County and across the district, and use those conversations to inform the bipartisan, practical solutions my team and I are working on in Congress.”
Since taking office, Spanberger has held county-wide town halls in Goochland, Spotsylvania, Nottoway, Henrico, Louisa, and Amelia, as well as public “Coffee with your Congressperson” events in Orange, Amelia, and Culpeper. Before taking office, Spanberger pledged to hold a town hall in each of the ten counties in Virginia’s Seventh District; the remaining town halls are scheduled for the coming months.
