HENRICO, V.A. — U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger today released the following statement on Veterans Day 2022.

“Virginia’s Seventh District has a proud record of military service. In Congress, I have the privilege of representing tens of thousands of Veterans and their families. That is a responsibility that I do not take lightly, and is one that I reflect upon often as I walk the halls of Capitol Hill.

“We as lawmakers and Americans have a duty to care for every man and woman who answered the call to serve. This year, I was humbled to help get signed into law one of the largest expansions of Veterans benefits in history — the Honoring Our PACT Act. Legislators on both sides of the aisle came together to provide generations of Veterans and their families with the care they have long deserved — and for many, have long been denied. While we may have more work to do to bridge deep divides in our politics, we have demonstrated that both Democrats and Republicans have a shared commitment to our nation’s heroes.

“On this Veterans Day, I extend my profound gratitude to every Virginian who has put on the uniform and defended our nation in the U.S. Armed Forces. Our Veterans, servicemembers, and their families represent the best of our Commonwealth, and I am honored to represent Virginia’s Veterans in Congress.”
