WOODBRIDGE, Va. — U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger today released the following statement ahead of Veterans Day 2024.

“I’m proud to represent so many Virginians who served. As the representative for Virginia’s Seventh District, I have the privilege of representing tens of thousands of Veterans, active duty servicemembers, and military families. This privilege comes with a responsibility I do not take lightly — the responsibility to guarantee that our government repays the massive debt of gratitude we owe to these heroes.

“While Veterans Day is an annual opportunity to recognize that debt and honor the sacrifices of those who put on the uniform, we must work every day to provide our Veterans with the care they deserve from the country for which they sacrificed so much. One of my proudest moments on Capitol Hill has been working with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to deliver one of the largest expansions of Veterans benefits in history. By passing the Honoring our PACT Act, Congress expanded benefits to nearly 50,000 Virginia Veterans, many with toxic exposures to Agent Orange, burn pits, and other toxins. This bipartisan commitment to our nation’s heroes fills me hope that true public servants will continue to find common ground and work with one another to make sure that our nation’s bravest neighbors are receiving our strongest support.

“As Veterans Day approaches, I extend my wholehearted gratitude to every Virginian who answered the call to defend our nation — and I’ll always work to recognize the unwavering service and extraordinary sacrifices of the bravest among us.”
