Spanberger Statement Ahead of Veterans Day

WOODBRIDGE, V.A. — U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger today released the following statement ahead of Veterans Day 2023.

“As the congressional representative for Virginia’s Seventh District, I have the honor of serving tens of thousands of Veterans, active-duty servicemembers, and their families. Virginia has a long and proud record of military service — and we owe these heroes a massive debt of gratitude.

“While Veterans Day is an annual opportunity to repay that debt and honor the sacrifices of those who put on the uniform, we must work each day to deliver the support our country owes these heroes for their service. Even amid deep divides on Capitol Hill, lawmakers across the political spectrum understand our responsibility to Americans who have worn the uniform. Last year, Republicans and Democrats came together to pass the Honoring Our PACT Act — which provides long overdue benefits to Veterans with toxic exposures, including from Agent Orange and burn pits. As a result of our shared commitment to our nation’s heroes, generations of Veterans and their families no longer must labor to prove to their government — the government they sacrificed so much to protect — that they are deserving of care.

“Ahead of Veterans Day, I extend my immense gratitude to every Virginian who answered the call to defend our shared values. As the daughter, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter of Veterans, I’m proud to represent so many of our neighbors who served — and I’ll always work to recognize the unwavering service and extraordinary sacrifices of the bravest among us.”
