WOODBRIDGE, Va. — U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger today released the following statement ahead of Thanksgiving Day.

“Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the blessings in our lives and to give thanks for the many things we hold dear — like our families, our communities, and our freedoms.

“I’m thankful for those who make our celebrations possible. Servicemembers, first responders, healthcare workers, and law enforcement officers will spend this holiday away from their families as they continue to protect and care for their fellow Virginians. We also owe a great deal of gratitude to the farmers and producers whose hard work helps food reach our tables and sustain our families, our Commonwealth, and our country. It is because of the invaluable contributions of so many of our neighbors that we can enjoy the holidays.

“This Thanksgiving, my thoughts are with the families in Virginia and across our country who will face empty chairs at their dining tables — those whose loved ones cannot join their celebrations and those who have lost a loved one. May this holiday serve as a reminder to extend a hand to our neighbors who are experiencing hardship, as even the smallest acts of care can bring comfort during difficult times.

“Today and every day, I’m thankful for the trust you’ve placed in me to represent Virginia’s Seventh District in Congress. From my family to yours, I wish you a safe, warm, and joyful Thanksgiving.”
