Spanberger Statement Ahead of Labor Day 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger today released the following statement ahead of Labor Day 2024.

“Each Labor Day, we recognize the immense contributions of workers across our Commonwealth — those who strengthen Virginia’s economy and make our Commonwealth the best place to live, work, and raise a family.

“From establishing the federal minimum wage and the five-day work week to securing industry health and safety standards, previous generations of workers fought to guarantee the rights that Virginians benefit from today. As we reflect on these trailblazers and their achievements, we must recommit to building on their legacies of progress and making sure that all Virginians have the opportunities and resources necessary to thrive in the workplace.

“Our workers power Virginia forward. This weekend, I hope all Virginians enjoy a safe Labor Day holiday with their friends and family.”
