U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger (D-VA-7th) was in Orange County on Tuesday to celebrate funding that will go toward renovating a local park.

Spanberger secured $122,590 to renovate Booster Park. She worked directly with Orange County officials to get this funding request signed into law.

The money will go toward field repairs, a practice facility, and a concession stand.

Spanberger says she’s been working with county officials to get this funding request for more than a year now.

“Ensuring that this space is even better, even more vibrant, and able to serve the community is important not just to the people who use this space now, but to people who use this in future generations,” she said.

This project is one out of ten of Spanberger’s community-requested projects.

Spanberger adds it’s important to invest in parks like Booster Park since they are great economic drivers.

County officials say they hope to start renovations as soon as possible but do not have a definite start date yet.
