Dale City Elementary School is One of 41 Schools Across the Nation — and One of Two Schools in Virginia — to Achieve This Year’s Award.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger today celebrated a school in Virginia’s Seventh District being recognized as a 2024 Green Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. The U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools award annually recognizes schools, districts, postsecondary institutions, and early learning centers for reducing environmental impacts, improving health and wellness, and offering effective sustainability education.

Dale City Elementary School in Woodbridge was named a Green Ribbon School — a sought-after achievement with strong national competition — for exhibiting sustainable school practices. Dale City Elementary School is one of 41 schools across the nation — and one of two schools in Virginia — that achieved this year’s award.

“I would like to extend my congratulations to the administrators, faculty, and students at Dale City Elementary School in Woodbridge for being recognized as a U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School,” said Spanberger. “Winning this award is a tremendous achievement — and Dale City Elementary School’s dedication to environmental stewardship sets a fantastic example not only for schools across Prince William County and Virginia’s Seventh District, but across our Commonwealth and our country. I am proud to represent so many schools that prioritize environmental protection and sustainability — and I’m proud that Virginia schools are earning the recognition they deserve.”
