GLEN ALLEN, VA – U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger today announced details about her first three in-district town halls. These public events will allow Spanberger to hear the ideas, suggestions, and concerns of Central Virginia residents.

“A representative government means listening to the voices of those you serve—and then fighting for their priorities and making their voices heard. As I begin hosting town halls across the 7th District, I’m eager to hear directly from the people of Central Virginia,” said Spanberger. “Before arriving in the House, I promised to be responsive to the needs of Central Virginians, and that remains a top priority for my office and its legislative work. Town halls are invaluable opportunities to foster a direct dialogue, ensure democratic participation, and learn more about the ideas Central Virginians want me to bring to Congress. I hope to see many of our neighbors at our first town hall in Goochland, and I look forward to announcing additional events in the future.”

At these community events, Central Virginians will have the opportunity to discuss how Spanberger can best represent their interests in the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as ask questions about specific pieces of legislation. Town halls announced by Spanberger so far are:

Goochland County

Spanberger and her office are in the process of planning town halls in all ten counties of Virginia’s 7th District and will announce additional events as details are finalized.

Since taking office on January 3, Spanberger has voted nine times to end the ongoing partial government shutdown and reopen critical departments and agencies. She has advocated strongly for a swift end to the shutdown, which is creating hardship for thousands of federal employees, both in her own district and across the country. Earlier this week, Spanberger was assigned to the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Agriculture Committee.

Spanberger represents Virginia’s 7th Congressional District, which contains all or portions of Amelia, Chesterfield, Culpeper, Goochland, Henrico, Louisa, Nottoway, Orange, Powhatan, and Spotsylvania counties in Central Virginia. She was raised and currently resides in Henrico County.
