ICYMI: Thousands of Virginians Join Spanberger’s Telephone Town Hall Focused on Issues Facing Virginia Veterans & Military Families
During Monday’s Interactive Event, the Congresswoman & Representatives from the Virginia Department of Veterans Services Were Joined by More Than 7,200 Virginians
WOODBRIDGE, Va. — On Monday, U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger hosted an open, public telephone town hall focused on issues facing Virginia’s Veterans, military families, and caregivers.
During the event, Spanberger was joined by representatives from the Virginia Department of Veterans Services. The Congresswoman and her guests answered questions directly from Seventh District Veterans and their loved ones about U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) disability benefits, retirement benefits for combat-retired Veterans, VA healthcare benefits, and more. Additionally, the Congresswoman updated Virginians on the Veteran Improvement Commercial Driver License Act, legislation she helped lead that President Biden recently signed into law to cut red tape for Veterans looking to use their GI benefits to pay for commercial driver’s license (CDL) education programs.
More than 7,200 Virginians joined Monday night’s event. Click here for a full video recording of the event.
“I was glad to have the opportunity to answer questions directly from Seventh District Veterans and their loved ones. I appreciate Ben Shaw, Guy Dinkins, and Mike Mullins from the Virginia Department of Veterans Services for joining the conversation to share their insights and expertise with those who tuned in,” said Spanberger. “To every Virginian who has answered the call to serve our country in uniform, I thank you for your service and your sacrifice. Every conversation I have with our neighbors who served helps me better advocate on their behalf through my work in Congress. I encourage anyone who was unable to ask a question to please reach out to my office.”
Monday’s event was Spanberger’s 62nd open, public town hall event. These town halls have focused on a range of issues facing Virginia’s families, Veterans, seniors, small businesses, students, and communities. Click here to watch full recordings of previous events.
