Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star: FA team recognized for ‘Rep Check’ app

Fredericksburg Academy students Kaylee Meier, McKenna Withers, Riya Menachery and Riyan Golden won the Seventh District’s annual Congressional App Challenge and recently visited U.S. Rep. Abigail Spanberger on Capitol Hill.

The team created an app called “Rep Check” that provides an index of Virginia Congress members, include their photo, district, political party, website link and an excerpt about each. The app will be displayed in the Capitol and shared on the House of Representatives’ website, alongside those from other winners.

The students said it was their goal to get voters and soon-to-be voters informed about the candidates because they know many people, especially younger ones, cannot name their representatives in Congress.
