CBS19: Spanberger to hold county-focused virtual office hours

CBS19, KATHRYN YOUNG

Seventh District Representative Abigail Spanberger announced she will hold county-specific virtual office hours this spring on Zoom.

Office hours sessions begin March 30 and will run through June 2. Each week, Spanberger will hold office hours in a different one of the ten counties she represents.

Spanberger’s office previously would hold in-person office hours in county office buildings and other public buildings, but she has been unable to do so due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, they have shifted to a virtual format.

“That level of accessibility and just opening the door to say, ‘we’re here, please come visit us,’ was a really good way for us to connect with the community and for people to understand and know about the services that our office can provide,” Spanberger said.

Since taking office in January 2019, Spanberger’s team has closed nearly 2,000 cases for Central Virginians and returned nearly $5 million in casework funds back to constituents.

Each county’s office hours date has two sessions, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

If residents are unable to attend an office hours session, they are always able to call Spanberger’s office at (804) 401-4110.
